Maintenance support to the Company's operation

A leading drilling and blasting company will soon begin construction on a new regional facility in Bethel Township, Berks County.

Maine Drilling and Blasting is constructing its facility along Brown Road, which runs alongside I-78, just west of the Route 501 interchange. Construction is scheduled to begin next week after existing structures at 51 and 61 Brown Road are relocated.

The company currently works out of an interim location in Myerstown.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in May 2015.

Once completed, the new facility will provide administrative, material storage and maintenance support to the Company's operation. Finished space will include offices for approximately eight administrative personnel, a storage area for deliveries, parts, tools and small supplies, and a three-bay maintenance garage for heavy equipment and vehicle repair. The facility is not expected to bring any new jobs.

The move to the new facility furthers the company's commitment to being a local presence in order to better support customers by providing the best services at the most effective costs, according to a release.

"Maine Drilling and Blasting's capital investment in this new regional facility will better support our commitment to continued growth and local customer service to the Mid-Atlantic region," company President and CEO Bill Purington said in the release. "This market offers great potential for us, and the businesses and contractors here deserve nothing less than our best efforts and resources at the ready."
